DVLA vehicle details from the RAC website

Postby FredTransit » Sat Apr 09, 2005 4:35 pm

RAC Vehicle Check
and register, then you can enter a reg no and see what's against it at the DVLA. Don't worry it doesn't list any names or addresses, but it is interesting to see what the DVLA might think what your van is, and gives manufacture date and number of previous owners, for free!

It's not infallable though, it still has the one we lost in the accident 15 months ago as current, and one we have standing outside recently taxed as not found!

EDIT - I have signed up for the forum for this, login - fordtransit@mytrashmail.com, password - fordvan.

Haven't tried hers yet, as even if they say she doesn't exist we do have the van and the VRD, so i will argue til the cows come home on that one! I think it's linked to wether or not you have had road tax lately, but not nessesarily as Billie hasn't had tax for a year!

Registration details

Postby vannut » Fri May 06, 2005 5:14 pm

Another way of doing this is to log in to ebay, go through the motions of placing a vehicle for sale, (you have to go through the 'sell my item' and 'choose category' phases, make sure you choose a category in 'automotive' and 'cars' or other vehicles.

This presents you with a page where you can input the registration number. Type it in and click 'continue' and if the vehicle 'exists' it will bring up make/model/number of doors/engine size/ date of first registration/colour/number of previous owners etc.

If you then hit the back button on your browser, you can enter a new number and start again! When you've finished just close your browser and that's it. (You don't actually have to sell anything...)

It's easy really

Postby vannut » Sat May 07, 2005 12:54 am

It's not as convoluted as it seems. If you're selling on ebay regularly it's much easier that the RAC route!
