3 wheels on my wagon !!!! Lucky or what?

Postby stivh » Thu Feb 02, 2006 5:44 pm

Well what a day 8.45am pull out of the drive quick left, quick right, then snap off crumples the n/s front wheel crack goes the brake calipers and twang goes the axle shaft.

Oops that doesn't happen often? NO WARNING, NO NOISE NOT EVEN A SUGGESTION.

Out comes the trolly jack and off we crawl in 5 inch surges towards the kerb - my neighbours were very accomadating and their patience was a blessing.

Two and a half hours later the RAC have turned up, lifted and dropped me back in my driveway - all of 40 yards in reverse.

Call the breakers zip down there on the motorbike strip the donor van apart handed over £40.00 and back home. By 4pm I am back on 4 wheels again.

But not going anywhere as the shock has popped its mountings and has suffered from being twisted when I tow jacked it. However I left a perfect almost new example at the breakers???

THING IS HAD THIS HAPPENED YESTERDAY WHEN I WAS BLATTING DOWN THE M62 ..............AT 60 plus miles an hour???

Makes yah think?

Been slowly around the block and could hear the shock bouncing so locked her up for the evening, apart from that the all parts fitted seem to work perfect, the rusty disc which I lightly grit blasted (a new toy for my motorbike rebuilds) even has a new set of pads so change the and then I just need to sort out the tracking as I forgot to mark up the track rod end.

Sadly I can't post a photo here.

With regards to the eurolottery I reckon I used this all of this weeks lucky charm up this morning................but I am tempted!

Fitted the replacemant shock this afternoon (the front pair for £30.00), greased the bearings and did the test drive. All okay however it's really made me cautious when turning right.

Also isn't it amazing how you can feel every bump, hear every knock and sense every strain of the vans chassis and body when you drive.

Reckon the mini disc will be on full blast for the next week or so!

£70.00 lighter but it could of been oh so very, very different.

Oh and I won £7.10 on the eurlottery (£2.60 actually)
