the magnetic force of a transit works again lol

Postby MONSTER 0NE » Mon Jan 19, 2009 7:51 pm

Yes the force was working again this morning, as some old gentleman in his mice rover 75 v6 didnt see my van even though I was next to him when he changed lanes, fortunaly for me he only caught the back wheel of my van with his front bumper as i went past, which ended with his car looking a bit sorry for itself with the bumper hanging off nicely  but the trusty old transit didnt have a mark on it :)
here are a couple of pics of his rover or whats left of it

tell me about it

little up date had the van on a mates ramp to check the tracking and noticed the axle has been moved back on the springs on the driverside, which isnt a hard job to sort but im gonna ring his insuracnce company in the morning and see what they say as why should i get dirty when it werent my fault in the first place, and Andy there aint much to see really as the wheel took the impact so no body damage which makes a change for me  just the wheel sitting back in the arch abit, it still drives ok mind you havent really driven it much as ive been busy thats why I only got it on the ramp this evening just before my mate finished work

dont think so as by the look of it its the leaf springs that have moved not the bottom leaf to the axle if that makes sense

Here are a few close up pics hopefully showing what has happened, also phoned the other guys insurance and was told as he is saying im to blame they cant do anything so got onto my insurance who just said get a quote to fix and send it to them if its not much they will give the go ahead, if not they will get the engineer to come and have a look at it,. One question I have do/should you replace rear springs in pairs as if you have a old one and a new one on opposite side will it effect the handling ?
the wheel sitting slight off centre in the arch

leaf spring has moved back

and the same a leaf spring moved as you can see slightly cleaner metal on more easliy in this pic hopefully

tell me about it luke, not being nasty to the bloke but he shouldnt be on the road if he cant see a bloody big van next to him when he changes lane, when there is stationary traffic in front of him and im in the right lane to come of at the next exit so why would i wanna change lanes as i would be heading back they way ive just come onto the dual carriage way

and thought that about springs so it aint gonna be cheap if new parts are used as I had a laugh and phoned fords and springs are £229+ vat each so that equalls £540 just for the springs lol if they decide its gonna be written of I will buy it back and fix it on the cheap and spend the rest on getting other bits sorted on it, but its not bad just over a year (by 6 days :( ) since the last accident which ended up with that van going to the scrappy in the sky
