which swb carries 8x4 sheets?

Hi all
I know that at some point the swb vans were made longer to carry 8x4 sheets. Can anyone tell me which models/year these are?

Even a 100 SWB will carry an 8x4 sheet, but not flat on the floor - stood up on the diagonal

I think it has to a LWB varient to take an 8x4 laying flat.

yes, thanks. i guessed this would be the case, but diagonal storage screws up the rest of my load...

Mine will carry an 8x4 sheet no problem but not if you have a bulk head as they need to be hard up against the seat bases. They wont lay flat if you have a twin wheel as the wheel arches come into the load space more.

Teh LWB Mk1/2s were designed to carry an 8x4 sheet, if Top Gear is to be believed!

The new swb vans are stated as having a max load length of over 8ft (2582mm). Are they talking diagonal dimensions? (it doesnt look like it on the diagrams)
As I said before, I have been told that the newer swb is longer than the old, which had a load length of about 7'8.
I'm looking for a swb and dont really want to mess about with hacking into the bulkhead - I just want to slide the boards in standing up.
So does any one know about this change in length and when it happened or are people telling me porkies?

Why not a LWB? Parking problem? I always say you can fit a little load into a big van, but not the other way round..........

My 99 V reg Swb Crusader had a factory fitted half height bulkhead fitted this allowed 8 x 4 sheets to fit flat on floor
Not that it ever had a clear floor though
