Hi all.
got stoped today by the boys in blue for driving a scruffy van and needing a shave... grrrrr.
The gent in the hat comented on all the extra ellecy things i have fitted to my van and made as to say"they may not be safe unless checked by a compentnt fitter"?
Does any one know of any rules on this sort of thing? i had a mot recently and she passed so im not to worried but he was a little odd about it all and none too polite when i siad it was ok as far as i was aware.

I have one extra battery and two sub fuse boxes running...
SPOTS
FRONT FOGS
FRIDGE (in rear)
LAMPS (in rear)
WINCH( in rear)
EXTRA POWER SOCKETS(on dash and in rear)
INVERTA(under dash)
CHARGER(for my power tools)
And a 12/24 volt out under the rear bumper.

I didnt think i needed any sort of test/check for any of this?.

Also can any one recomend a bigger/better ford compatable alternator for badger, she is a 96/97 non banana engine

You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

Hmm.
Yup i didnt think it seemed all that cosher.
I have been stoped three times in the last two years in more than one van and they always seem to just want to give me an van the once over.
Had not had the ellecy thing as yet but not worried as no producer so no further interest from them(i hope).

I have an ex police van and that has extra fuse box and heater and riot shield crap that they had fitted. Also what about all these utility vans with inverters and that? Or was it because you had done it all and they trying say it has to be done by some sort of professional?

Oh, yes. Been there. They love to pick at an old motor, but they hate it when they don't find anything wrong.

Not quite the same though as all that work would have been carried out by the vehicle conversion people.
I don't think you need to worry though. The fact that you've used two extra fuse boxes says it all really!
I've looked at some cars/vans/boats after being told they wern't working quite right to find the sort of wiring that has me imediately disconnecting the battery and reaching for the insulation tape/cutters

Maybe a shave before you go out :?:

On a serious note if your wiring is tidy and not just laying around everywhere loose. I can't see a problem :D especially as it's fused  :!: :D
