wheel adapters...sort of

Postby Blue van man » Tue Jun 13, 2006 6:34 pm

Hi Guys,

Just looking through some old magazines and came across this article and thought it mite be of interest to some of you.

If you take the front wheels off the transit, you will see that what appears to be the outer hub flange, this is in fact an adapter.
the inner row of bolts holds the discs on whilst that whacking great flange just increases the PCD.So by removing the adapter and
replacing it with a custom made adapter you can change the stud pattern to anything you like. You'd have to get a local engineering firm
to make this up for you.

At the back you can use the front adapters and turn them round, push the studs through from the back and it an adapter to change the PCD on the rear wheels.
You can then use the row of centre bolts to hold your new wheels on as the stud pattern is 108mm PCD.In other words Volvo pattern. So if you make your new front adapters to
Volvo pattern there shouldn't be too much trouble getting new wheels for your van.

Well i hope this is of some help to some of you out there

All the best

Willie
