digital clocks for a mk2?

Postby madvanman » Sun Jul 16, 2006 12:47 pm

while digging through my lockup i found this.
i made this conversion for Lew but never got round to fitting it, its a vanden-plas maestro instrument panel fitted to a mk2 dash housing,
ive just got to get a new front without any holes for trip meter or clock and get rid of the grid lines
might look good fitted to 3001 :?:

i've also got the digital dash panel from an mg montego with the speech generator in it, but the speech part was so annoying i decided to use the vp one  its also easier to wire in.

i saw a digital dash from a vaux Senator wedged into a sierra, and frankly i thought it looked the dogs boll**ks. just the thing for the 3001 as well 8)
being as i was starting school in the early/mid eighties i thought digital dashes were the coolest thing ever, so i could be a bit biased

You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

Getting a Lens without the trip counter might prove difficult but there are lots about without the clock setting hole.
To be honest I would leave the gridlines as it fits the 'feeling' of 3001...as the time it was created probably is close to when those clocks were made and the films at the time to make something 'futuristic' you painted a line around them. heck go for it and add 'el' wire (computer parts) used to mod keyboards without illumination but watch out for the earth as they can interfere a bit sometimes.
