) but it's a good site so i thought i'd post it here - although us transit owners really should be expert welders after a few MOT's :lol:

i did it years ago and makes running a shed so much cheeper :lol:

I've only gone and done it!!
Got me a 130amp Gasless Mig, went for the gasless because I have no garage and will have to do all my welding on the drive.
Got a small workshop in the extension and just been having a bash on some small pieces. It's actually not that hard (apart from setting my workbench on fire a couple of times :lol:

)
Couple of more hours practice then the vans getting it!!

I think MIG is very easy to learn if you stick at it. I had not had a go at it before and dove straight in to welding a load of structural stuff and floor pan on a metro to get it through it's MOT, the guy at the MOT place said it was one of the neater jobs he had seen!! (Mind you any work done on a metro is an improvement!!) Granted the first few attempts were very poor with either blow holes or blobs but after you master the wire speed/current flow for different thicknesses, you're most of the way there.
