Does anybody have information on the Jeff Uren Transit conversions. I think he mainly converted campervans, but would convert any transit to v6 spec ,that was taken to him. Are there any left in existance?

I know somone who is in contact with the man himself but he is still a busy man but does find the time (when he can) to answer question about his old conversions.

Like it! But, "no stopping to water the horses"??!!! I would have thought that with a V6 and a heavy right foot, all you would be doing would be stopping to water the horses!

the best thing is he used the decent carb( twin choke weber) as ford only used single choke and governed it down to 100bhp, mind you just as well as ambulances etc would of been to fast! this also in later years was the reason for governing the 2.9inj as that was around 150bhp and was guverned to 89mph!
but on the 3lt v6 ford fitted a 2 gallon sump for body roll and thats why most transit engines lasted alot longer with more oil going round!

The less chokes you use the more torque the engine will produce, IE: a pinto with a 38 DGS will produce more torque (but less BHP) than the same engine using twin 40/45 sidedraught webbers, as torque is the important thing with vans perhaps thaty why ford did it?
Pinto 2.0 vans use a single choke as appossed to the twin choke on a car using the same engine.

Easidrive Uren Transit's

Postby transitjono » Tue Jun 14, 2005 12:41 pm

Living in Hanwell the home of Race Proved and having more than a passing interest in Mk2 Cortina's and Transit's,though contacts i do know of two Uren Transit that still existing.1 in Scotland-long wheel base luton used as a back up for bread deliveries, owned from new.And the other somewhere in Ireland-lwb panel owned by rather touchy bloke.
I heard Jimmy Saville had a panel and a coachbuilt camper but when he was contacted,he kindly answered in person and said that he had passed them some years ago when he finished touring and didn't know what had happened to them.
As with Ford i@ve been lead believe that only lwb chassis/panels where done but,in an old carvan mag i have seen a picture of a swb camper with a caption underneith claiming it to be a Uren van.
If you look at http://www.buysellcortina.co.uk there is a list of the reg. numbers of all vehicles that we know (but there's many more) that Race Proved converted including Transit's.
I have a Savage mk2 cortina in bits and i would a Uren Transit to support it at shows.
