Roof Tent !!!!!

Postby Valsheda » Mon Aug 28, 2006 3:29 pm

I was talking to a mate of mine about the problem with my van regarding sleeping in it and having loads of seats.
I dont really fancy unbolting the back fow and even if i did i wouldnt gain that much room, so was thinking of buying a tent.
My mate is into the 4x4 scene and showed me a pick of this roof tent on a 4x4, looked great, so i have just done a google search on them and found these SITE SITE, it think it's worth knowing about if you have a low roof and dont have the room to comfortably kip in it or dont want the hassle of pitching a tent

interesting idea :D i can see it fot the africa crossing in a landy but dunno about a transit

do all the seats fold down in the tourneo, or just the back ones :?: if they all fold you could get a bed across mabe- ive been thinking about this with my mk1 im looking at fitting an lpg tank halfway across the van and obviously i wont be able to shift that easy

years ago in the Top gear magazine they had some bloke try to drive from england to norway (or something) on a single tank of petrol, and i remember he had a one man tent like this strapped to the roof.

being a short arse (5' 6") i can pretty much sleep on Tourneo seats as they are. i recently had to do this (dont ask!) and it was surprisingly comfy

Luke- unless my van is unusual, only the rear row of seats fold. i did wonder if you could move the rear row of seats to the middle of the van- once they were folded you'd have big old space to sleep in (but only two rows).

shame the seats dont fold flat backwards, rather than forwards, otherwise you'd have an instant bed.

 now thats a good idea :!: apart from i guess its handy to have the back ones folding too :D - would be better (but expensive  ) to get a back row and fit them instead of the front row
