think the transit has an LSD, thought it might have being a v6 and built for ford by ford, got both wheels spinning today, one on grass and the other on concrete, at the same time!!!!

what sort of lsd was fitted to transits and is it poss to service them.

will the little tag on the axle tell me if its lsd.

If you send me a picture of the VIN plate in the passenger foot well I can tell you exactly what axle the van has.

Well if the plate is right it has a 51A Heavy Salisbury (less L.S.D) ratio of 4.63 , so if that is to be believed then it doesn't have a LSD.

The codes i've used are for 95 on but I would have thought that they would be the same, but with Ford's I guess you never know.

There are quite a few different codes Luke. But the Mk3 it may well have been a SVO.

I don't think Mk2 and Mk3 ambies were SVO. Neither of ours have an SVO plate. They left ford as chassis cabs and so must have been based on standard models. They are one of each of the two ambulance manufacturers at the time, Hanlon and Wadham Stringer. Don't know about later ones though.

I see your point MrMp, but I think it might have just been an option, maybe not an SVO option, but don't ask me what the difference is. TBH I would have though ambies are SVO, unless we have the only two in exsistance that aren't I noticed this a few weeks ago when I had to get a wheel cyl for the Wadham, looked for the chassis number and not only noticed they are both based on a 160 (and petrol 2L to boot !) they don't have any sign of an SVO plate. I am thinking that Hanlon and Wadham Stringer did ALL the mods, including fitting the V6, which would make sense as they are both 160 2L petrol on the VIN. Just imagine this, 1980s, the Hanlon factory (or Wadham), out the back there was a huge pile of pintos with no milage on them.............
