As i drive round this patch (the biggest population of vehicles in the country) all i see is new vans that look the same,they only come in small or large and silver cars-proper boring.I bet all new new vans on the market are 110% better to drive than my Smiley but they have no sole.
Mind you i was driving an 1960 Austin J2 camper for a couple of hours yesterday,in them days "the white van man" really earned his money.

I was talking to a fella who works for skanska ( i think thats how you spell it ) the peeps who are replacing the gas pipes round our streets at the moment, and he said they always had transits and are now being issued with ldv's, what a load of crap they are he said give me my transit back anyday

I for one agrree that the new transit and the LDV Maxus look very very similar. That's not a good thing.

I don't know about under the skin though. I once hired a Maxus for a weekend. It was brand new at the time but I was told to try not to slam the doors because the handles kept falling off.

LDV is a good van, no doubt about that, not so many silly gizmos to take your money when they F**k up, and they will no doubt about it, then its take the van to the dealer cos no-one else has a clue but the old Ldv keeps on going and all you need to fix it is a hammer and a welder

I changed jobs so now drive a Maxus quite often, sometimes even a....Convoy! I'd rather be in my old basic 85bhp mk6, the LDVs aren't quite as cosseting as my Transit, and the locking system is shite, they all do it, but I dunno if they're actually meant to. For a huge van with only 95bhp and sky-high gearing though, I have to admit it shoves quite well and corners ok, not responsive enough though, Transit was car-like and hair-trigger sharp.

As for the Convoy, Jesus, shows how evolution works I guess. It does feel quite literally like the important bits are indestructable though, probably necessary 'cos it doesn't seem to have suspesion going by how hard everything shakes when you hit anything less than glass-smooth, so the less-important bits like the plastic interior don't stand a chance it stuff falls off...
