Had her driving on the road under her own power for the 1st time in 5 years last night :D :D
ive welded the prop myself i did it at the back so like you say simgy if it does snap it shouldnt cause any major problems!!!

worst thing was i couldnt reverse her off the drive without mike stood on the back bouncing about  just kept spinning the wheels - mabe it will be better on twin wheels :? certanly will be better with a back on!! - just made me wonder about the brake test on the mot :?

It's legal and possible to test a chassis cab without a body, I have done it myself. To comply with C&U regs I bolted a large board onto the chassis and attached plastic wheel guards to it for good measure. The law states that the tyres should be covered, and the MOT station should be fine with this. if not, go elsewhere! You may find that a class 7 station would be more used to this, if they have tested demount body chassis cabs before.

Re the bakes for the MOT, the brake capabilty is taken with the vehicle as it would be on the road, so if you take her with a board bolted to the chassis, the brakes ahould be more than good enough, as they would be designed to stop the truck, body and load. As there is no body or load, they should be more than the legal requirement.

what i was worried about fred is that the brakes would lock in the rollers and there wouldnt be enough weight to regester - what i might do is drop a board on and ratchet strap a few 25litre drums filled with water over the back axle :D
also i want to test it as a 3.5T now! but i might see what is passes with and plate it as a 3.5T next year!!

Honestly Luke, mine didn't lock the rollers, it actually hopped out but passed fine, after all you can't fail for having brakes that are too good!! Twin wheel transits are no longer plated, they are class 7. Still a different station, but not as strict as a plating test. Get a recommendation from a friend for a station. if you were nearer I would say go to the one we use in wembley.

UPDATE - brakes and exhaust done!! - now driving up and down the street safely and quietly
still got abit more welding to do and rear lights!!
Another problem i may encounter is ive fitted a mk3 wiring loom (the origanal was shot) - and i may have a few problems with the wiper motor - the mk3 one seems to have a few more connections on  the other switches will also need converting - as i have mk3 stalks at the moment but that should be fairly strait forward!! :D

But this not having home internet does help the restoration quite a bit!!!
