My 1973 90 'RS2000' camper

Postby Mr twin choke » Sat Jun 09, 2018 11:36 am

A few pictures of my 1973 90 camper which I've had for the past 2 years. When purchased it had already been modified by fitment of a 2.0 ohc engine, so it's never going to be a matching numbers museum piece. On that basis I've carried out a few upgrades of my own. It now has a big valve head, weber dgv, on a polished original RS manifold with a ramflo air filter and electric cooling fan. Has approximately 115 bhp on super unleaded and will empty it's fuel tank in under an hour if driven like an RS. It also has disc brakes and stiffer shock absorbers to help it stop and handle better. Hope you like it!

That is awesome! I've got a mk3 camper with a 2.0 pinto in it and that goes quite well. Was thinking of adding a few more bhp to it just to surprise a few people lol. Rob.

This one surprises many people due to its rather humble appearance  .Mrs twin choke describes driving it as terrifying! If you do decide to go down this route with your one, I would recommend either an egg under the throttle pedal or towing a fuel bowser

Can you learn more about how Pinto 2.0 got under the short hood of the "Duckling"?

A little update on this one, it's been undergoing a several year major bodywork restoration which is nearing completion. 50 years worth of hidden nasties lurking underneath a coat of paint and fibreglass, now all properly replaced with fresh steel. Whilst that's been going on, the mechanical bits and trim have been getting a refurb too and wiring looms repaired all ready to go back on once it's painted. I'll try and upload some pics of it when I get the chance. Hoping to return it to it's original colour too but having difficulty tracing the correct paint code as it looks like it's a non standard colour
