Fatha's new van

Postby fastmower » Sun Dec 02, 2007 3:29 pm

Hi all,

Fatha in law has been looking for a camper van, and having viewed a few at silly prices for very basic conversions, has decided to have a do at converting one himself. Managed to talk him out of looking at Renault Masters and the like, and told him what he really needed was a Transit!

Seen a few on ebay - a nice ex police one, but a bit on the pricey side. Anyway, to cut a long stroy short, we found one on the Trader this morning down in Preston, and it's now sitting on his drive!

Pictures look a bit gloomy - hasn't been the nicest of days weather wise - but here's a few of the new member of the family!

Needs a heater resistor (what a surprise!) and can anyone tell us what is behind the temperature control knob on the heater? Pipes to and from the heater matrix are hot and have water in them, but no hot air and doesn't feel like the control knob is turning much behind it. Is it a valve or a flap or something else behind there? Does the knob just pull off it's spindle?

Cheers all,

Andy

looks clean.

As for the heater

if its a STD heater it has a cable down to a control shaft on the side of the heater box. drivers sida about half way up. you can see it from the footwell. turn the knob and see if it operates

Cheers guys - I reckon fatha's pretty chuffed actually - he's been out tinkering with it tonight by all accounts! Sounds like he's turned into white van man already - went off to clear someones garage with it after work this afternoon! Bless him
