my mk1 feuerwehr

This is my lovely mk1. Pics taken in 2004 right after arriving to it's new home. Looks pretty from a distance, but it needs a lot of body work which I'd like to start soon... I wonder when will it look like madmark's beautiful mk1...

The pics don't come up in the preview either. I put the URLs between the img tags, I think it should be ok. Any idea?

I think you missed off the .jpg tag to finish off the URL, but it still doesn't come out (as in the quote above). Has it bee stored as another type of image file - ie mpg (though that's usually for moving imiges)

I uploaded the files to http://tinypic.com which doesn't require any registration. The URLs I received doesn't have any extensions however the files are jpgs. I think it just doesn't go through your img handling (maybe it requires the extension), there's only the HTML missing for the img:

Got me stumped then, I am still learing about online picture hosting, so I tried everything I do know and it didn't work! something happened when I added the jpg tag, but it still didn't turn out. Have you tried http://www.photobucket.com ?

I just didn't want to waste time on registration. Looks like phpBB needs the extension. Hosts shouldn't really care about extensions, and the URL is valid:
http://www.tinypic.com/28uyaa ... OK, I registered and moved to photobucket.

Hi madmark, so you found my pics.
The clock says very low, 27.658 kms, but I have no idea if it's real or not.
The village I live got the truck as a gift from its german brother-village (?!?) as a present in 1995. the Mayor and others had been using it for a while, but the local government had no money for the running expenses, so when the logbook expired in 1998 they just parked it down in the schoolyard. Till last year it had a sad and lonely life, just standing there and rusting, some parts were stolen (mirrors, horns, the bluelight). They were happy to sell it, I was happy to buy it, because I was in love with her since I first saw her in 2003 :)
They even got the original waterpump (built with a VW bug engine) with it, but the Mayor didn't want to sell that... (just the matter of time :)) and it also has a semitrailer water tank laying around in a garden which I'd like to save too.

I already removed the racking, which was a lot of fun :)

Don't you just hate that, when people can't just keep thier fingers off things? It's happened to us, and you could chop thier hands off. The Fire pump sounds a hoot, see if you can get hold of it, could be useful at van runs......

I already found mirrors (a new and a used one, both from UK), even I bought a complete bluelight on ebay and I have a pair of really nice Bosch horns as well. I nearly check ebay on a daily base for parts, so if anyone needs help on finding parts, I can try to help. Usually there are many mk1 parts for sale, sometimes they are not very well advertised...
Shall I open a new topic for mk1 parts in 'Ebay/ Auction Ads' and add them if I have time?

I spent two days on starting her up again: new battery, oil, remove and clean carb., change fuel lines, change tires... So far the engine runs quiet good, but I have no benchmark, no idea about its real state and the compression is not measured yet.

your engine should be ok i think the german engine is stronger than the english v4 ,the mirrors are a pain i have the normal mirrors i fitted them on and i couldnt see out of them so i put the feuerwehr ones back on! ,i have seen many many ex feuerwehr transits for sale in germany some have very low km the lowest i have seen so far is 6900km WOW !when i got mine i asked the fire station were it came from if they had any foto,s of the car still in service they said they had none  it is very hard to comunicate as the language barrier is hard! here in england parts fetch alot of money for mk1 transits you can pay upto £200 for a front wing as they are getting hard to get now, i would of thourt that parts were easyer in germany as they still use them in the fire department! have you been out in yours yet??????
