i bought the mk2 a couple of months ago to take the strain off the mk3 coz i was using that everyday,and the idea was to get another truck so i could do repairs on the mk3 and still go to work and get the mortgage money!!

when i bought the mk2 i put new front discs and pads on it and then went a bit further and done the rear drums,shoes,wheel cylinders and handbrake cable as well,

all i need to do now is sort out two new front spring hangers on it (the originals have been welded up ,but not properly?)i will do it properly or not do it at all myself!!!

yes fred it came with the plate but i have bought new rear brakes and they are for a 1978 model(maybe the axle has been changed??)
its a good old girl
i steam cleaned the engine bay and its come up alright considering the age(which i am not sure of??) anyway

Did you have any grief from your insurance company because of the Q plate? I have heard you can get trouble, but never asked anybody with a Q to find out for sure.

not at all
these trucks are on traders insurance c3rd party only though which could be a problem if they got stolen as i woulndnt get paid out anything from my insurers!!
but thats the only downfall with my insurance..

You only have 3 years to worry about the insurrance anyway as come 2010 you won't be able to own those vehicles living where you do unless you shell out 2k a piece for specialist particulate filters and even that isn't guaranteed to work.

i have heard about this emmissions thing they're on about
but will i need one for the mk3(diesel) as the emmissions are very low on this vehicle anyway???

You will have no choice as neither of your two vehicles are Euro III compliant so the only way you can keep them on the road (where you live that is) is to pay for the specialist exhausts, that or pay £100 per day if you use them or not.

The very rough guide is anything prior to a 52 plate will be non compliant and needs the special cat, you could get a letter from Fords stating that the engine IS Euro III compliant as many makers introduced engines that were compliant before the 52 plate BUT this will only help you for approximately 1 maybe 2 years as then the sliding scale of the need for Euro IV comes in so letter or not, you then will need another vehicle.
