my mk2 camper <<FOR SALE SOON>> please value her

Postby tuscan440 » Thu Jun 22, 2006 8:37 pm

unfortunately due to insanely expensive masters degree fee's i have to sell my beloved jolene, i joint own her with two other mates and we have had 3 happy years with her, be it with a couple of mishaps!!
anyway this is her right now, sold as seen, just want u guys to have a look over and gimme a bottom line price i shud expect from her. the interior has been revarnished and the seats/curtains redone and everything is in working order (oven fridge etc)

the whole speakers and sub are just something wev'e added to the van as any students would BUT none of the fixtures are permanent and are reverseable, still have the original cupboard door and dashboard. so if u dont like this touch then it can be changed!

THE BAD POINTS - the 2.0 l pinto has possibly dropped a valve but is solid anyway and will start with out fail, has just had brand new ignition system (except for coil).
the n/s wheel arch was ripped off in an accident and put back on so as it stands the wheel arch is yet to be sprayed but as u can tell from the picture (of the arch) its hard to tell after using white filler. unfortunately the wheels are not a complete set as one got distroyed when it came off.
also there are small surface rust patches and i mean small on the sill of the roof but it is just surface rust and nothin a lil touch up cudnt fix.

and thats our jolene, im goin to fix the handbrake cable then slap an MOT on her and probs post on here if anyone is intrested.

PLEASE PLEASE let me kno what u think she is genuinely worth, all bad points have been mentioned. she is not for slae just yet but wil be asap.

The only way of valuing it really is to sell it for what you think it's worth!

well i want bottom line £1600, i think £2000 is a realistic target tho. it will be up on ebay soon enough cos there are a lot of people looking for surf vans that are a much cheaper alternative to vw's

I would say you could only expect your top estimate if you are willing to put the engine right or swap it out for another. It wouldnt cost a lot to do but will put a lot on the price, what you have to think is that potential buyers probably wont have as much mechanical knowledge as you do........ and if you think you dont have a lot you need to meet some of my customers

It has to be worth it mate, look on ebay and you will find decent heads for next to nothing, a few hours work with a Haynes manual at your side and it will be up and running perfectly :D and thats gona chuck a good few hundred on the price as any buyer will be able to drive her away and use her for what she was intended straight away...... :D

Would you and your mates have bought her in the first place if she wasnt roadworthy? I'm guessing you wouldnt..

:? if you put it on ebay with a engine problem or you say it has a problem you will be lucky to fetch £800 it will put people off! :? i would say as a gess she is worth £1600 to £2000 with a good running engine! in the peek season(now) but end of the year it will be worth less!
