Mark 6 Blue Flame from Warsaw (and MK3 White Arrow)

Postby wojciech » Mon Aug 02, 2010 4:17 pm

Hi, my Tourneo 125T300 I bought in Germany two years ago. It is 125HP/285Nm common rail engine. Originally it was 9 persons car, but german owner took original tourneo/velur sitting places and put in standard Transit fotels (but new) for 8 persons...

Originally engine is 129HP/292Nm - Ford gave extra 4HP and 7 Nm... After box-tunning it has 146HP/346Nm. Torque is much more higher - specially in 2000 r/min. I don't must turn engine high, but it's going very sprightly... Now max speed is 185km/h (GPS), but a biggest fun is drive 130-150 km/h (it has still good acceleration).
Of course - chip-tunning (remapping) it is much more better than box, but in MK6 chip-tunning is impossible through OBD.
This is dyno testing computer diagram. It was done two times - without box and with box (on switch position nr 6, max. position is 10).Torque gain is 54 Nm (+18,5%), power gain is 47HP (+13,2%). In higher switch positions gains are much more bigger, but engine start to smoke black and injectors sound is loud little bit (specially cold engine) .

This MK6 it is my fourth Transit
First it was 1986 Kombi with 2,5D Lucas/CAV engine, I bought it in 1988 in Germany (short, low roof, 9 persons).
Second (still in my hands) it is 1993 Bus/9 persons with 2,5D/Bosch pump.
Third it was 1993 bus/9 persons with Lucas Epic, I used it only 4 month - too much problems with Epic.
Fourth - 2003 tdci 125/T300.
From 1988 - when I bought first Transit - I had not any typical person car. From this time I use Transit every day for everywhere. I love it... Image]

Yes, I have a lot of pictures. But I must scan them, because it's on photo paper...
One more picture - my MK6 inside. CB-radio - I mounted between front seats. Now its possible to use CB from front or second line seats. Using is comfortable and fast. When I take antenna inside - nobody can't see CB...
In Poland it is very important to have CB - because of the police with radar. Image

I found some pictures my FIRST Transit, called in England MK3.
It was 1986 model Kombi, FT 100, 9 seats, first month production in new body. Engine 2,5D/70HP with Lucas injection pump and CAV fuel system. Four speed gearbox. I bought this car in 1988 in Germany (in West Germany in this time) from Ford dealer. It was their show-car, 20.000 km only in a very good condition.
After 300.000km it was big engine failure - because of exhaust valve (see picture Image)
I sold this car in 1996.

In my MK3 it was four speed gearbox - very short (I don't remember rear axle ratio)... I kept engine whole time on high speed - max speed was 125km/h only (78 mph), but with very good acceleration.
And - I think - 300.000 km with high rotation - it was little bit too much for this engine... Image

My Tourneo Mk6 has new wheels - Ronal R44 (6,5Jx16) with tires Goodyear Cargo Marathon 225/60R16 101/99 H C. Originally Tourneo has tire size 205/65R16 and this new are only 0,5% bigger (I mean diameter). Original Ford's alloy wheels 5,5Jx16 I will use in winter with winter tires 195/65R16.
From first meters I feel - this new tires they are real premium class - soft, silent, works as glue to road, in a curve are sharp... Before I had Czech Barum - budget class - it is a different world...
It would be nice to have 18' wheels with low and large tires, but in Poland it is not good idea to use low tires (for example 235/45R18) - roads are very destroyed, with many holes... High tires works much more longer...

I changed also day time lights - I had mounted before Hella with 6W halogen bulb. It was to poor ligh - everybody thought I have only side light on. And they talk to me on CB - turn on lights!
Now I found on Polish ebay exactly this same size lights - but with strong LEDs. Now in CB silent...Image

My second Transit Mk4 (still in my hands) and fourth Mk6 - together in Warsaw..
My sun use Mk4 as car for observation (surveillance) - he is private eye (detective). That is why in car are dark windows... Image

Image

Car has old black numbers plate - it is 1993, I have this car from 1995. Mileage is 520.000 miles - 90% in big town (!) Engine (Bosch, 70 HP) never touch - from the begining on Mobil 1. Synthetic oil in Polish climate ist the best - in winter always is some days with very low temperature under -15 or more degrees Celsius. At that time - after night - mineral oil it is... defeat.
Bosch pump twise in repair - because of wrong fuel (discoloured heating oil - by concentrated acid - Polish... hm... specificity Image )

Catastrophe...
Few days ago, in my Mk6, engine virtually... exploded. It was in high speed, on A2 road, per 300 meters I left trace of mixing liquid, oil and ground aluminium... Image

Image

Now I am looking for second using engine. It's problem, because Transit engine 2,0tdci FIFA it is rarity, 95% Mk6 Transits are tddi with Bosch. Engine FIFA are with longer injectors, only Mk3 Mondeo 2,0 tdci before lift (09.2003) had longer injectors.
It's important to buy engine for long injectors - I have linjectors and injector pump 2 month after regeneration (1.100 GBP  ) - it would be good to move it to new engine...

Now I waiting for engine disassembly - I still don't know what exactly happend...

Sorry to hear that mate, lovely looking van and in great condition. Mk6 looks so much nicer than the Mk7 to me, just looks cleaner and better proportioned.
