Thanks for all the comments. I was very lucky with the photo as none of the bad bits show. Its rusty in all the normal places, edges of the load floor and front spring hangers. Here is a picture of it as I bought it. I wanted to take some more but couldn't as it was inside a MOD establishment. I removed the roof rack before I took it home so the neighbours wern't quite as horrified. As you can imagine it stands out a bit on my front grass, I think people use it when giving directions !

It's still legal at the moment but I am not sure if it will pass the MOT this year. It is rather good fun off road too. Soon after I got it I took it on an ALL Wheel Drive event. Just the looks I got at the start were brilliant, it was a fairly tame family trial but I managed to follow my friend in his Range Rover. The only damage it got was to the exhaust, the tail pipe got pulled off as I drove up a steep bank. Shame I didn't get any good pictures of it.

these are rare bits of kit now! i had a mk2 the same as yours many years ago, i couldnt get it stuck even in 2wd!
