If I came accross a goood axle with no diff whines I might consider it, would have to weld new spring plates on the axle of course, thing is my diff doesnt make a sound and it very high geared :D

would you :?: ive measured it up and it looks to me like it would go strait on :?
also i'd like to know if the mk3 diff fits in a mk4/5 axle - if it does then you could get a noisy (cheep  ) mk4/5 axle and swap your diff over. obviously the halfshafts are different length - but are the splines the same :?: :? :D

You got a Mk3 and a MK4 axle there then luke? I always thought the springs mounted further out on the MK4, although thinking about it the chassiss are the same arent they? I couldnt answer the other questions either, and the biggest problem of all is that we have approximately 0 transit breakers round here.

Definately something to think about for a summers weekend though.

I know what you mean about breakers Rover, they are closing fast round here and those still open never have transits in them, come to think of it they dont have very many cars now either and the cars they do have , have been stripped of anything worth having.
