You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

Durashift

Postby Terry » Wed May 03, 2006 10:37 pm

As for the foglights being computer controlled sounds like sci-fi
to me.
I just wired them as I would a completely new accessory, but they did take a little sorting out WITHIN the lamps, but I can't remember why !.
If 'Belly' is near I will gladly go give a hand.
What's a durashift steering wheel ?, my Scorpio has cruise control buttons either side of the airbag, is this a Transit version ?
I got a little black book with me poems in

The "Automated Manual Shift" steering wheel has four (two either side of the airbag) up and down buttons on it.
Was wondering what was involved in transfering this type of wheel over  then free up space for your remote control :?:

Steering wheel

Postby Terry » Thu May 04, 2006 9:07 am

This is what I have in the Scorpio, its got the cruise control buttons on.
The 2 on left are on/off, on right.. top is resume/disconnect, middle is set/accelerate, bottom is decelarate.
Image
As for fitting a Scorpio steering wheel, the inner column is a hex on the Scorpio and in a flattish plastic cup behind the wheel is this.
Image
I couldn't dis the connector so just cut it ! (yellow is the airbag
the others I guess horn as the car didn't have CC).
The Scorpio remote slides into a plastic housing (with indicators/wipers e.t.c) inside the column shroud, so I probably couldn't make a neat job
of fitting it anyway.
Had a Sony head, with 10 cd changer & remote in the other van , but
the head unit lit up like an Xmas tree, too bright for me.

Solar panels

Postby Terry » Fri Aug 18, 2006 9:44 pm

I finally got round to fixing the solar panels on the roof,

Image

then I ran the cables down through a plastic bung in the centre of the roof, then into the reinforcing rib above the overhead shelf, down the nearside 'B' pillar then under the floor (via the fuel filler cavity) to the leisure battery resited under the floor by the sliding door.
I now keep a trolley jack behind the drivers seat, having changed a wheel using the Ford jack !
Eventually I will put up a photo of the awning open

And I forgot

Postby Terry » Fri Aug 18, 2006 9:59 pm

Forgot to mention.......
I moved the Road Angel off the top of the dash & into the bottom of the speedo binnacle, (there's a spate of sat-navs,Road Angels & the like being nicked out of vans over the airport) the phone kit blew one channel of the 5000 radio I had, so I bought a 6006e (and a new phone kit), so now have a CD storage problem. and I am in the throes of installing side marker lights. (to the van & the trailer), got hold of an electric winch to go on the trailer too so now need a battery box & battery to power that.
Had a LOT of spending on the house this year ( new roof & re-wired £££ ) so not done too much.

Promised awning photo

Postby Terry » Sat Sep 09, 2006 11:30 am

Here are the promised awning photos
Image
Needless to say looking from the front, the legs are height adjustable & you do need a ladder to get up to undo it ! (well I do :) )
Image
Looking forward excuse the porch pillar.
And heres one of the leisure battery under the floor nearside by the sliding door step.
Image.
I have found another slim leisure battery and will move that one & fix it to the trailer to power the winch (fingers crossed)
