Rain

Postby ghost » Mon May 14, 2007 1:28 am

on-off rain all day but managed to get o/s step/sill prepped and now need a couple of clear days to finish paint.
Was running around in other transit today.Scruffy but solid.Bull bars deal with rude buoy scooter riders and attitude school children with ease.

It might be eventually if I get on ok with the Transit and don't find I'm running overloaded in it.I need 2 vehicles but I'm thinking of building another (less glamourless) Transit beavertail for my mates to use.Their insurance won't cover over 3500kg.I'll let you know...
(sorry about picture, not a Transit but does have Ford badge  )

Here's the yards delivery vehicle.More rust than the Titanic but carries a load well.Scary to drive with 50 tyres on board due to lack of clutch and brakes.Would not like to meet traffic division in this car especially if loaded and drunk.I should weigh it in now it's doubled in value with all the poxy rain we've had this weekend

Postby ghost » Thu May 24, 2007 2:54 am

Made a bit of progress now the weather is good.Finished paint on offside.Colour coded bumper & wiper panel.Re-fitted rad and battery after blowing a load of Waxoyl everywhere.Should be good for another decade...
Going to have the alarm/security/remote start & central locking fitted tomorrow so had a rush around fitting her back up.Went for a drive around and took a few pics in the BP garage...

there's a few systems around, most can be found on security company sites and e bay.You can spend £100-ish or get a quality complete security system for £400-£500.I just added remote to my existing system which is new-ish and good.
When remote start is operated all normal security features work.Ignition off, steering lock on,alarm set.If door is opened without disarming alarm, the siren will sound and vehicle is immobilised.Works a treat,no more cold engines and frosty screens. Not recomended for people who leave the motor in gear, you may wipe out yer neighbours and demolish their house one icy morning, not good start to the working week

Really nice work and I like the colour.
I read you wanted to extend the chassis, why didn't you do that before the paint job?

Yeah we were thinking of mesh as well.I was given these bull bars taken from a Vitara, they need a bit of metalwork to fit the Transit.I was going to fit these first and make sure it's not too much bling with mesh as well.
Added benefit of bull bar is it has holes for lights, which when fitted should obscure the number plate which is nice

I'm not doing the extension and body fitting so I am going to have some paint repairs to do to chassis when I get it back after it's extension and body fitting.Beavertail section will also need paint.I wanted to get most of chassis in paint before I deliver to engineers.(This week if the rain ever stops and lets me finish off stuff. )
