Securicor transits are converted to have a single door in the side. The original drivers and passengers doors as well as the original twin rear doors are welded permanently shut. There is an escape hatch in the roof, they are converted from new by a firm called Bedwas. The vehicles have to be approved by the ministry etc.
As a foot note they are designed that way so in the event of the passenger being held up at gun point or by having a gallon of petrol poured over him by a lighter holding baddie the driver can bugger off with the money!.
The hatch in the roof isn't that big or that easy to use, however a flame licking round your backside generally makes you quicker to react than normal.
