My personal favourite is the mk2 lwb, the styling is great in my opinion, with those twin wheels and flared arches and square lights it looks well butch. I have been collecting bits over the years for a project I have in mind, putting a 3.0 essex in one of these.

If you think the standard 10ft lutons are overbodied, look at this!

I have got so used to the big uns now, when I do go back to a 'normal' 10ft, it feels odd and a bit unstable when fully loaded  The extra wheelbase certainly makes the luton fell better. I know what you mean about the LWB, before the minibus I hadn't driven anything with just 4 wheels for at least 15 years, probably more!

mk3 essex overdrive

Postby MRspivvy » Fri Jul 29, 2005 10:10 am

cool! IMO the essex is far more suited to the transit than the cologne, theres more low end grunt and you dont need to rev it to make it go.
what diff ratio are you running? the mk3 I just got rid of had a 2.9 efi and I always found it too low geared, pretty harsh at 70mph

I am not too good with axle ratios, the big un is the only factory diesel we have, and I reckon she is still on her original axle, whatever ratio that is! She goes better with a load on, and can easily get over 70 fully loaded, just takes a while to get there!! Have a look for the thread 'Extra Extra Luton' in gallery for the full story.

Back to the original subject of the thread! Here's the minbus on set yesterday (behind), with one of the other minbuses we have on the books.

Not bad for under £500 eh? From scrapper to film star!

Here she is again on tuesday dressed as a police van, with midniteclassix's van! The livery is all my own work (apart from the lettering, the film co provided that!) I was chuffed with the result.

She might be erm, going into the adult DVD business, in police uniform. They are trying to make up thier minds between the van or the minbus. At least she's over 18........................
