The VW is much harder to drive and it's so more difficult to access the engine.

I got the transit 'cos I wanted more space, I got sick of moving furniture around everytime I wanted to do anything

Like that a lot if it was mine i'd fit a later wider axle and mabe some different rear springs to lift it a little on the back - apart from that it's spot on love the interior too

'cos Transits aren't cool in the same way as a VW, all that S-Cal surfer dude image, more people will stop and look at a halfway tidy VW but unless a Transit (of an elderly age) isn't mint next to no-one will look at it. For example there is a Karman Ghia I walk past regular that has just had some very light rust treatment applied, absolutely begging for a full restoration but even if it was for sale I would hate to hear the price...I have a nagging suspicion it is the same one I saw in my street with a rather large dildo resting on the dash, and yes it was a woman who drove it away, I seriously doubt there are two pretty identical cars like that in my town, the parked up one is always in the same place and I have yet to see it being parked or driven away...it does get moved as it is always within the same 3 parking spaces in the street.

My veedub gets loads of attention, even though it's a complete rustbucket. I guess the hippy look helps a bit though.

I've had it for 3 years and it's proved pretty reliable, apart from the bits that regularly fall off of it.

The transit is far far superior in build quality, it's easier to drive, steer and work on (in fact comparible to a modern vehicle) ... The only thing that lets it down is it isn't so easy to get parts for ... Plus with the motorhome top it's harder to find a garage with 10ft clearance and a suitable ramp.
