My new Transit

Well, after working so hard on my last Transit and eventually realising that there was no way on this planet it would be MOT'd as the chassis corrosion was just too severe I have found myself a replacement.

I have been looking for a luton with a tail lift for about 6 months now as a second vehicle to use when I can't fit everything into my little Renault Kangoo (daily driver). I've seen all types, Ivecos, Transits, LDVs etc but I always prefer the Transit.

This yoke is a 2.5TD with a factory built Ford body with a 500kg tail lift. It's rough round the edges but it will get new wings etc and I'll also be transferring the smiley front, dash and doors from my other Transit through time as well.

But the best part is - it's the 100ps engine. Plenty of power (well, not at the minute as there's a little blow-out from the exhaust manifold).

You will not recognise this van when I have finished with it - but for the next three weeks it will remain as it is because I will be using it for my work.

I prefer it kept as a MK4 :o :o

Perhaps just make it reversible by keeping the MK4 grill in the garage roof and fit a smiley grill with the middle bit replaced with mesh

This stops the "double badge" look

I have a smiley bonnet as well so it will only have one badge - I hate that double badge thing too.

I think the MK4 looks too old. In my business image is everything and if I can make the Transit look like a 1999 instead of a 93 then it will make all the difference.

andy your not the only one. i prefer the look of the MK3/4. MK5 look common and the dash in the MK4 has a nice flat on it perfect for a laptop only thing i dont like on the mk4 dash is the sh*t pen holder :x

I have the smiley MK5 slam panel as well... if you check out my previous van you will see I have done this conversion before.

This van used to be completely MK4 & I did a serious amount of work to it but now it's parts department for my new one:

Swapped the doors from my other Transit this morning & also touched in the rust with diamond white for the mean time:

The tail lift needed a bit of work as the previous owner decided to cut it in half as it suited his needs better. It's not a pretty picture at the minute but it'll look good with a little more TLC.
