My 1978 Mk2 Transit

Postby 1958 harry » Tue Jun 09, 2015 9:18 pm

This is my Mk2 Transit, ex German Fire Brigade. Has done 27k km's (17k miles) from new. Was in use until late 2013 when it was imported.

Underneath and generally it's excellent. Just a couple of minor bits to sort, got a knocking on the front most likely a perished bush and I'm refitting some retro radio gear into the dash as there were holes left.

Other than that it drives lovely.

Plan is to keep it exactly as - is. Has anyone got any clever ideas on how to install some seat belts to the forward facing rear seats?

Looks fantastic. One question though incase I keep my mk1 as standard , whats the story with the blue light , is it legal to have fitted providing its not used ???

Thanks everyone :)

Apparently the blue light is fine as long as it's not used, or so I'm led to believe.

Cleaned up the engine, and fitted a glovebox lid as it never had one.

Also installed a PA system and period CB to fill the holes left in the dash and have everything working in it again

I also found it in a Video on YouTube from Rottenburg (the town where it was used)

It makes an appearance at 8.15. It doesn't do a lot but cool to see it in use none the less!
