These are photos of the factroy fitted 6 cylinder in my mark 1. As you can see you get a minor engine/transmission box inside the cabin but it dosn't bother me at all and you can still easily sit three across the front.
The engine is a 3300cc 6cylinder out of an Austrailain Falcon/TC Cortina with a three speed borg warner 35 automatic. The engine (according the the workshop manual which i know is in-accuriate) puts out 101kw/135hp at the flywheel. So it goes well for a van. The engine bay is a mess .... alot of the mess is due to my LPG system but with the current price of petrol i would be struggling to afford to run it on petrol where as on LPG it costs me less that a Corrola
The six cylinder was an option on every mark 1 and 2 here in Aus as far as i know. Some mark 2's were even fitted with the 4100cc model wich had 165hp.
However i am not sure of the configuration of the factory fitted automatic shifter, mine is from a TC cortina as my car was originally manual and it was converted to an auto in 1990 when my grandfathers left knee gave out and he could no longer push the clutch.
Hope you like it
