Just a few shots of the old girl

She was orginally a British gas special order, fitted with an external (110V ?) power supply in the rear quarter. It was then sold on to a shopkeeper who used her as a mobile shop for a short while, then parked her up for about 8 years. She had only 58,000 miles from new on her when I took ownership.



as you can see, she had some extensive bodywork repairs due to standing outside for nearly a decade ! These included new arches, wings, bonnet, front crossmember and inner rear quarters...





Current colour is a fetching shade of John Deere Green, but im planning something new shortly, as Im none too keen on it tbh

Current thinking is to go with Garland green (colour of the front in the first photo) or Flambeau Red metallic

Ah bless! Maybe I missed something, but is she a phase1 or pahse2? Hard to tell without seeing the front or rear lights.

Nope, she's a phase 2 on the 85 'C plate

The rear bumper mount holes were welded up in a moment of miscommunication

At current, she has phase 1 bumpers on her (as I had a set), so its not really a problem.

well, it seemed like a good idea at the time - but its not too bad - paint costs about £15 a litre from the right sources and it takes about 3 litres or so to paint, being a SWB.

as for the back panel ... no problem, just pump it full of expanding foam and ignore it, it should never give you any more problems :p

Expanding foam, be careful of this stuff, our welder says it goes up at a minutes notice, especially if you are welding and don't know it's there!!!

oh yeah ... it will do that alright, you can get fire retardant stuff (it aint that good though) ..... but if, like my van a lot of the rot problems are coming from the inside of the box sections, after you have replaced / patched all the knackered bits, there is nothing better really for removing all of those voids that cause the problems than this stuff.

if you get it all fixed first, then do the box sections with it, it will expand into all the little nooks and crannies, it sticks like sh*t to a shovel, and if sealed properly at the inject/overspill areas it will never let water in, and will prevent condesation/damp forming in the box sections. Bear in mind it also reacts to water in the atmosphere on expanding so it will in some way remove existing dampness from inside box sections

Tat lot said .... your welder is dead right, if you ever need to repair a section filled with this stuff, it will make the job twice as hard ..... however if your needing to do this then you did something wrong in the first place
