I really hope its as good as it sounds Bob, I have my doubts and I hope you can lay them to rest :)

You fairly local then Bob?, seeing as you have to pick it up from Mansfield?

I hope so too  , the bloke emailed me some pics, and it looks sound.....i dont mind a bit of welding and fettling tho  if it turns out it needs it.

No, not local, im in the north of Scotland :? , should be an interesting trundle up the road  . Got a few mates in the worksop area, tho.
I got it as more of a project than anything.....the poor old body is going to get a few alterations  , the thought of someone breaking it for spares drove me to the purchase..... would be a waste of a belting van.

Stop filling me with confidence will you  :D

Right, now i'm out of hospital and getting back to normality i've decided that the blue Mk2 is too good mechanically etc to tear apart and stick a v8 in, so i finally gave in and purchased the speedshack one with v8 installed. Ive got my stage 3 tuned rover lump almost finished ready to drop in, just need to re-build the back axle, sort a few mechanical foibles, then get busy with the grinder/welder/spray gun........
Brought the v8 tranny home with a trailer attached to the back of the blue tranny.......to be honest i'm amazed it was man enough to pull it up some of the hills!!!.

Must admit i am quite surprised, when i first saw it i thought 'sh*t, what have i done'!.... But got it off the car trailer last night, ripped interior out and had a good look round, it only needs welding in 4 places, nothing serious. I'll be taking those hideous rubber arches off and replacing with proper metal ones. Dash is going to be ripped out and a new alloy one will be put in place (instead of the rusty old heap that is there at the mo). Going to rebuild diff (it's got as much lash as a standard tranny diff, but i want it tight). The engine ran like a sweetie last night, as opposed to the misfiring it was doing dahn sarf, it was a cool night....... carb is basically waaaaaaay overjetted, so needs bringing back into the realms of normality. But i only need the engine running so i can nip back and forth to the work garage so i can use ramps/welders etc etc  . Once the body is sound, hopefully my rebuilt v8 will be ready to slot in, then it's time to sort painting and interior.......

Hopefully wont be too long before it is brand new and ready to roll..........fingers crossed
