Exactly - its your works van.

Therefore, its your responsibility to look after it (as you do) and its up to you to get annoyed when some brain dead donkey drives into it.

Someone hits my van and they had better watch out.. Works vehicle or not

yeah exactly what i think aswell phil_g the guy was in my work today he wants to know why my boss wont put it thru our insurance answer to that well you smacked it so you can pay rite outta yer pocket cos the trailer was a shambles looked like he had made it out a caravan chassis so his insurance wont cover it so hes comin in with the money later on 2morrow for the damage think £300 will cover lol but all is gd cos she is on the road again fixed her this morning so happy days but the spare looks like she has been thru a dodgy area of glasgow no back light bar or lights lol

thought i would give you all a wee update on the van (bessie) was at work today drivin along the motorway had 1 ton of brick on the back when the started juddering on a up hill climb the van slowed to about 50 mph when i could hear a metalic clanging sound comin from the drive shaft so pulled over and discoverd the drive shaft was movin about at the center mounting in the middle. foned the boss and he told me if i was able to then drive the van back to the depot so started drivin back to the yard about 30 miles in total on the way back the rumbling and juddering got worse then i decided i wasnt gonna drive it back anymore just as i was about to pull over the driveshaft failed at the rear axle.......fast forward to recovery truck and a long slow journey on the back of a daf 17 tonner gets to reg vardy ford who take the van in and come out 2 hours later sayin the drive shaft had failed at the front and rear due to excess wear and tear so my van is now sittin with no back axel on her in ford..........boss reckons that we might just repair her and sell her on and speed the delivery of the new vw lt (sprinter) up sorry if this is long winded guys just realy gutted that my van is fooked up and just havin a bad day and thought i would tell all of you........ a will keep you all up to date as things go

You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

Your boss will regret the Sprinter if they are as fragile as we tend to see, sounds like your Transit was regularly overloaded and booted. So the Sprinter won't last anywhere near as long.
I had a LWB Talbot Express works van, I left for a while but when I came back to work I got my old van back, shame the driver who had been using it while I had been away thrashed the living crap out of it as it was noticebly slower and the pickup was sluggish and the clutch was well high. Different driving styles and this persons lack of gear changing stuffed the van. The driver denied he miss-treated the van...yeah right  I saw him driving other vans the same way as a pedestrian and as a passenger plus he was allowed to take the van home so he was thrashing the hell out of it doing boot sales and the like all weekend. All it needs is a little mis-use and things like this will crop up. It took several oil changes and a new clutch plus a full injector bleed (about 5 times) plus I think a couple of injectors too...oh and the gear change linkage needed to be rebuilt as all the spring pins had been lost. All this work to get the van back to how it should have been when I got back to work....crazy!
This driver also wired in a radio using Blue Tack to hold the connections in place...seriously! This was a different van that I had to use and the damned radio caught fire I burnt my fingers ripping it out with red hot wires and loads of smoke so this tells you something of this persons attention to sensible things.

well think that the driver who was usein her was doin the same ford reckon the van has been abused for atleast a few yrs about the same amount of time i was away from the company thay say that the van will need stripped and rebuilt as the clutch is screwed up aswell so waitin with baited breath to see the out come :( but as for the vw situation think i have managed to talk him outta that hopefully as i said thay will be crap and thay look flimsy round the edges so if ford are gonna have the van for a while thay are gonna give us a brand new transit new shape with the same body and speck as our one so maybe if its any good we might go back to ford fingers crossed
