MY Mk7 LWB 2.4 TDCi RWD LX in Moondust silver *update P.2*

Postby matg » Sun Sep 24, 2006 7:38 pm

Well I picked the van up on Friday, I have had a bit of a hectic weekend so only just had time to get some pics for you, and its also given me time to reflect on it and compare it to my old Mk6 2.4 LWB.

lots of pics I am afraid :)

Its LWB 2.4 TDCI 115 PS/310Nm RWD LX

Features are:

Moondust silver paint
Electric windows
Electric heated mirrors
Automatic wipers
Automatic Lights
Disks all round
wheel trims
Body coloured front bumper/grille
Front fog lights
Trip computer
Steering wheel controls for the stereo
CD player
Tinted windows
6 Speed
Over head Storage unit
Ply lined.

These are some of the nice features over the old Mk6:

Alarm (as standard I believe).
Horn beep if you try to lock the van and a door is not fully open.
Door Ajar message in instrument display.
Door and key fob all in one, with self charging battery when in the ignition.
Stereo has a phone mute button on.
Stereo has an Aux out on it for example to connect an MP3 player.
Auto lock of all doors once van starts moving.
6 speed box is fantastic.
Clutch is position better so that you can take your foot off easier (a problem I had with my Mk6).
Suspension is brilliant, its not as firm as the old mk6 which does mean in slightly worse handling but the ride is very very comfortable, really impressed with it.
Engine noise is minimal (if it sounded like the old Mk6 I wouldn't have brought it).
Audible noise when the fuel tank is low.
All seats have adjustable head rests which also means you can take them out for longer loads.

Poor points:

None as such really, I would have liked 270 degree doors like on the jumbo.
My hand book is for the mk6 so I need to get that changed.
The doors can be hard to shut properly due to the strength of the rubbers.
One of my rubbers has come off but the dealer is sorting that.
that's it so far :)

Basically I am very happy with it, the auto lights and wipes are brilliant and a very handy feature, you really don't have to worry about them at all :) As is the trip computer, very handy indeed! Apart from it telling you 24 miles to the gallon

I have been a longish drive to day and over the weekend I have done 500 miles already. My consumption was 333miles for a tank full (£70) to petrol light on, not great but I was running late at 4am this morning and did put my foot down to make up time down to Maidstone, so that's why its not great. So I am hopping for better this week I will keep you up dated :)

I think that's about it, over all I am very happy indeed with my new van, and now I need to plan my modifications to it ;)

I hope you like it :)

Very nice, how long have you had it? Is it an ex-demo or something? Seems odd to see it on an 06 not 56 plate.

yep its an ex-demo I got a great deal on it and the dealer made the initial loss. I got it on Friday, and the dealer had it for 3 months (which is the minimum they are allowed to have it before they sold it. It had done 1500 miles exactly, but I still get the 3 year warranty, AA cover, tax, and some very servicing ;)

Nice Transit mate

The dash looks like a Focus dash with a modified surround to fit the Transit width
