Advice on potential new van please

In my search for a new van I have found the following

SWB L/R Transit 280 03 plate 79,800miles
2.0 Diesel engine
Electric screen, electric windows, PAS

Will have MOT and service.

£4995 + VAT

This is from an LDV/DAF dealer, who might be able to take my Y reg Mondeo estate in part exchange (though no price confirmed at the moment).

Since I know nothing about vans (this will be my first purchase), I would really appreciate some feedback from you guys.

Is this a good deal?
Are there any points I need to check?

price seems fair - but without seeing the van its difficult to say the main thing is the condition of the van, they arnt like cars which are all used for the same thing, that van might have been used for delivering flowers then chances are it will be a good en , then again if its been used by a builder it might be not so good

put your location in your profile, someone may be close to you that knows of a van for sale, p/x is not a good idea unless you cant sell it elsewhere, you can get discount if you just buy the van straightout

The car has a 2.0litre petrol engine. We haven't agreed on a price yet.

Do you think it might be better to sell the car privately and see how much I can get him to lower the price of the van?
Does offering to pay cash still help?
Is it advisable?

Well it looks like I will soon be the owner of a van

The dealer offered£2,200 px for the Mondeo
Which even I thought was a bit low. A quick check on autotrader suggests I should get at least 3 and hopefully closer to 4 for it, so we shall go for a private sale.
