Looking at a 2006 Camper - What do I need to look out for

Postby The combat wombat » Thu May 12, 2022 1:06 pm

We are going to be looking at a 2006 T350 LWB High top with the 2.4 115bhp engine, & RWD, next week. It has been converted (professionally) to a camper. It has 163,000 on the clock.

Apart from being aware of rust, is there anything I should know about this model at this mileage? It hasn't moved for three years and the tires are MOT advisories due to low tread, so I know we'll have to replace all four, for starters.

MOT history shows corroded brake pipes, play in steering rack inner joints, an emissions failure two years ago, prop shaft housing insecure and an engine oil leak.

The last MOT only showed advisories for corroded brake pipes and tyre wear, so I presume the past issues have been fixed, but will get service history if possible.

Seller is asking £7,000 which seems to be in the ballpark for other vans I've seen.

As you say rust is the main thing to worry about the mileage is not to high and if it has service history to show it’s been maintained would be better but I would be happy if I could get a test drive even without a service history.
