Pro's and cons of an automatic tranny

Postby stretch81 » Fri Jul 17, 2009 11:38 am

Am trawling the web looking for a decent condition mk5 (that is the smiley one?) Transit, have found one but it's an automatic, what's people's opinions and views on this?

A lot of my driving will be in London so I thought maybe a good thing. But are they piles of pony?

I wouldnt be without mine either

First thing to check if you go and see it is the fluid colour and level, if its bright red take it for a good hard drive, 5 mins wont do!!! Check for leaks from under the box on your return and with the engine running check the level. if the oil is a browny colour then leave well alone.

I don't think i could have a auto transit in my 1999 style,, As it would make it that much slower,, :( it would be like going backwards  As Ive mentioned before i had disconnected the egr it was better but the induction roar was louder than my radio at certain speeds so i refitted it.
Ford Transit 280 SWB,,Year 2008,,2.2,, If it can,t be fixed/repaired/ with a 4 pound lump hammer then it must be an electrical problem.

Think again!

I had a job keeping up with AndyG on the way up to Gaydon last year, (mine is not bad with the EGR and fuelling mods done) and his autobox was not working properly then!
