buying first ever transit

Postby braziersrus » Wed Sep 02, 2009 9:33 pm

I am looking to buy my first ever transit, secondhand.i need a lwb and have about 2,500 to spend. The problem is i don't know what the different model numbers mean.
It must be a lwb, must be 2.5 diesel, but do i buy 260, 280, 350?
Can anyone tell me the difference.I will also need it to be suitable to pull a trailer & digger.

Cheers,

Mark

If you're looking for a Mk6 (year 2000 onwards) the best one for towing will be a 350 LWB 2.4 litre RWD
1994 Mk4 SWB 115 Minibus 70ps Di (R.I.P.)
1997 Mk5 SWB 115 Minibus 70ps Di (Gone, but not forgotten!)
2004 Mk6 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.0 TDDi - Vantunered (Also gone)
2008 Mk7 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.2 TDCi - Also Vantunered

to pull a digger and trailer you need a 350 :D

350 means 3500kg max load weight :D and it'll also be the one with the biggest towing capacity - check it before you buy that the digger & trailer isnt too much for it :)
