what would this cost in the UK?

Postby robi » Fri Mar 20, 2009 3:26 pm

her eis alink to a transit I am looking at.

http://www.hasznaltauto.hu/2515916_ford_transit_2000

I know you cannot read the hungarian but it says that everythign is in working order, the engien runs well, has it hung. MOT test-papers through Jul 2010....

The price is 1,44,000 HUF which is about 4,500 quid.

and there are 307 thousand KM on the odometer according to the owner....

I said that semes liek a bit much to me and he laughed and said he could change it if I want.... and that anywhere else that I buy one will have far more km than what the odometer actually says.

I am supposed to go take a lok at it this weekend... if I want to buy it directly from him.. or starting on Monday I an buy it from a dealer...

so, if the vna, 9 seats papers in order, etc 307K on it, and runs well, what woudl it cost ni the UK?

I am just a bit nervous about buying one with so many miles on it.

ok, enough of this rant and worrying...

"he laughed and said he could change it if I want"

so he just clocks them then if you say it is too high if it is as high as that just now imagine if he had changed the clock before you came in.

does the dial look straight or jumbled as this will tell you if he has had a screwdriver or electric drill to wind it back !!

I am off to check out that van and an other one that, in the advert at least, looks better,, also a 2000, but less miales on it and 5 or 6 hundred pounds cheaper.

I will look at the odomtere on both of them.

If transits are so much cheaper in teh UK, maybe I should over, buy a 9 seater and drive it back.

I've sold Toyota Surfs to a guy in Budepest....

He comes to England every month to buy and drive them back...

I'll look for his contact details if you want?

hey, i never got an automatic notification that there was a new msg here.... hence my beignso late.

I would love the contact info...

I would even consider flying to the UK if vans are so much cheaper there.

Also, I just noticed a van with german plates onsale here but it only has a 2 liter engine... however, according to the add it 74 kW and 101 HP.. while the 2.5 liter jobs have 55-65ish kW and 69 - 85ish HP... these are all 99 or 2000 vans, while the German one is a 2003...

is there that big a difference in power between 99 and 2003?

Hi guys feel a little daunted going against the flow on my first post but I regularly take Transits to Bulgaria and though i do make money selling them the fact that they are right hand drive puts a lot of people off and makes them a bit harder to re-sell

I know your worried about the mileage but this has never bothered me. In your position look at the cost of replacing the engine even if you buy and ship one from the uk. Chances are the vans you look at have all been clocked and even low mileage ones may have been on short runs and not been regularly serviced. Cheers BILL
