I am interesteb in buying a mk5 transit and was wondering what engines do they have. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

What do you want to know

The main 2 options are

2 Liter petrol (not very common)
2.5 Diesel (the DI)
70 ps without banana manifold
76ps with banana manifold

Then you have DI turbo's which come in 85 ps 100 ps and occasionally 115ps the latter is rare.

The diesel engines are strong but the non turbo ones can be slow

100ps (115PS if you can get one) turbo but they are harder to find and may go for more money all the 2.5 DI family are good engines so you can't go far wrong.

Answer really depends on what you're planning on doing with it.

Exactly you may find the N/A may not be powerful enough for you they are very reliable and generally speaking last longer than the van but hills can be a real problem When I replace my current luton I will definately be getting one with a turbo

Anyone know of or fitted a turbo to a mk 5 banana engine. I guess it can be expensive.

It can be done, you just throw away the banana manifold and use a turbo one, a few guys on here have turbo'd there Mk5's, Guy88 and Minormatt and a few others
