MK5

Postby Philb » Tue Jan 18, 2011 10:32 am

Hello, I've been looking at Ford Transit's in truth mainly because I understand what a Transit is and there seem to be a great deal around within my budget; I only need something to transport my motocrosser around and so don't really want to spend thousands.

Anyway - seems the MK5 will be the likely choice in 2.5D non-turbo version. I know it will be slow but mechanically any horrors or obvious things to check - beyond it has oil and water?? Some are ex-BT and I did read something here about an odd engine spec (or components within?) - is that something to be mindful of or the issue raised a one off?

Thanks.

BT vans had the same engine as all the other Di transits, EX BT are a good source as they are well looked after, however any EX BT MK5 will now have had several owners since BT, remember the newest MK5 is now 11 years old
