My experience is that the french will not buy vehicles with rhd. Just before Christmas, I went to look at a rhd english registered 190 lwb high top, 1999, new full ford exhaust, new cambelt and loads of other stuff done recently, still with uk mot and a bit of tax, went on french Ebay for €499. How much in the UK?

vanfox, yeah, i would have to register the vans to sell them as parts... thus i would have to p[ay the import duties or whatever it is called.....

I got my first Transit last year, with 248,000 miles on it.
I got underneath to check the chassis and floor, then drove it to check for funny noises.
All seemed good so I bought it.

It now has 262,000 miles, and has cost me 40 pounds to maintain.
The prop-shaft bearing went, and an exhaust rubber broke.

People have commented on how strong it looks, and how quiet it sounds.

Is mileage a concern, no ... Condition is.

I believe the MK3, 4 and 5 go on forever if maintained

To give you an idea about the prices here in the UK mine is a transit 120 1999 Ive had it since it was 2 years old and it has just gone onto 60,000 miles it passed its annual test last week i had a new exhaust pipe on it and i did cam belt new set of tyres and i think it must be worth £1,500 over here.

I know I have seen sg on this forum that talks about all these numbers and stuff but I cannot remember what they mean and I cnnot find that post...

Probably means it's 2500cc / 2.5l Turbo Diesel

well, now i will have to ask what is the difference betwen a pain old deisel and a turbo d... in real terms, i mean... I know in theory....

well, things have not worked out... there are no transits on sale currently that fit what I need.

now the wife wants a Mondeo wagon... I know even less about these then about Transits... I hope they are just as reliable.

any forums that deal with these cars?

the mk3 mondeos and mk6 engine are pretty much the same.

Well, the budget is 1.5 million Hungarian Forint

which is sg like 4,600 pounds....

I have been looking at Transits from 1999 and newer, SWB only, the wife will have nothing to do with anything bigger...

The Mondeo we found is this one...

so, a 2001 for about 3 900 Pound.

Cars in general are more expensive here than the UK, I do not have time at the moment to buy a van or car in the UK and get it here, the paper work and fees are more than I can deal with right not...

so I need to find info on Mondeos, at least, what to look out for etc.

Find the best you can in your country if the worst comes to the worst you can always import spares from the uk, ie engine+box will be the heaviest and you will save a fortune. Or why not set up as a self employed agent and fill a container full of bits and ship them to you and sell them job done. Cheers BILL
