I was talking to the guy who has it this morning, now I know what I bought :D :D , its a 02 petrol mondeo with high miles, he started it in the frosty weather and it had no anti freeze, it turned over, started and cut out, he locked it up and bought another car(more money than sense), No one has even lifted the bonnet to see what if any damage is done. I still haven't seen the car, his not mechanically minded and he presumed the head gasket went, I'm happy to let him think that :D .
So its a lucky dip really , could be ok or there could be damage done :D

Where did I buy it? n a pub haha, its belonged to a friend of my brother, the car is near me in Clonmel, im as sick as a small hospital today so im not going to look at it today!
Ya its cheap, even if I have to put a few quid into it, only thing is im using the funds for the van to buy it!

Are you in Ireland? if so we are organising a meet when we get enough members interested, think we have 4 so far

1The timing could be out (might of slipped a tooth or 2) that would certainly explain the symptoms you have with it, 2 is it loosing water? is there oil in the water or any sign of gunk (like mayonnaise) on the inside of oil filler cap? check the link below it might help you, plenty of good mechanics here, you could put a post up on the mk5 section as well!

Still haven't bought a van, Ive seen a mk5 luton with tail lift and I'm tempted, suits my business needs but its 95 and that's a year older than what I'm driving, tempted by the mk6 but its venturing into the unknown, have to buy something in the next few days, will report back on what I buy.

Been on the road all day, looked at 6 transits, every one of them was rougher than the party people bus, so I settled on a low milage nice clean 2.5 ducato, good straight van with no issues. I still have my mk5 which I hope to start work on in the next few weeks.
