Mk6 problems??

Hi guys,

Just a couple of quick questions if you dont mind, should be easy enough to answer. I have been browsing the forum, and come across a few remarks about Mk6's that i hope you can clarify.

The whole loom cover recall? what was the recall for? something about cutting the loom and all the doors opening? should i be looking for any kind of modification when im looking at Mk6's?

Any other recall probs on these?

Also, fuel pumps, whats the problems with these pumps? are they expensive? and is there any warning signs that the pump may be on its last legs when im test driving?

Any other main/common faults with the Mk6's i should be on the lookout for?

All affected MK6s will will now have had the modification, but that doesn't stop scum bags from cutting the loom. There is no visible way of checking, but I am fairly sure anything after a 53 plate wont be affected.

Fuel pumps do fail on TDDi, and ususally without much warning, genuine filters and regular changes can help increase their life, likewise on TDci which suffer injector failures.

Make sure glow plug light comes on at start up, but does not flash during driving, flashing indicates fault codes stored, so some dodgy sellers will disable the light to hide faults.
Other than that, just the usual, condition, corrosion (worse underneath than on body on MK6) service history etc etc

I've been out looking at a few, but i guess its just like looking at any used car/van. Just wanted to read up abit here and be as prepared as i can..
