173,000 miles??

Postby WDave » Thu Oct 11, 2012 4:43 pm

I have been looking at a second hand campervan advert which quotes "It's a LDV 2002---52reg, that means all running gear (engine, gearbox, axles are same as Ford Transit)" and "2.4 turbo engine (duro-torque)". Not mentioned in the advert was the mileage 173,000 miles! Would any of you experts still consider buying it?

If it starts and drives fine, with no smoke or funny/unusual noises, why not :?:

You may be able to use the mileage as a lever on the price

Ford Transit 120 TDI EPIC Automatic. 0-60 in a leisurely and smooth 12.7 seconds and 1/4 mile in 19.1 seconds. Now where's all these faster? manual Di s?

You cant beat a nice history file. If it proved its been well maintained and serviced all its life then that mileage isnt an issue.

Ive got a van with 260,000 on it and drives superb.

Almost 360k on a R reg luton, regular fluid/filter replacements and still went out tonight and did @250 miles round Cumbria. Leaks a bit of oil and shame the body isnt as pretty as it once was but i aint complaining. If the one your looking at runs sweet go for it and service it regular.
