Whaddya think to my first tranny? Be honest!

Postby djbzentertainment » Fri May 04, 2007 1:50 pm

Ok, am a Mobile DJ (with a lot of gear) and needed a van to cart it all round in. Then i thought of buying a LWB so i could carry three people in the back. Was on a bit of a budget and needed some spare cash left over to convert it to my needs. Ended up buying a van cosmetically challeneged (ie, rust on the body but totally solid underneath) already converted to what i want, so here's the spec and a description (will post a photo at some point). Rip it to bits guys, and would appreciate any hints n tips of things to watch out for. (PS a very good friend of mine part owns a van scrapyard so am very lucky for getting very cheap bits!)

1996 P reg
LWB semi high top
Blue (and brown!)
122,000 miles
6 stud wheels (whatever that means)
professionally converted in the back behind the front seats to have 3 passenger seats with seat belts. Two sliding side windows. One side door.
Rear all ply lined.
Tow bar.
Good condition inside the cab area apart from usual worn out drivers seat, back seats mint. Could do with floor cleaning and mebbe some nice balck car carpet laying.
Load area as you would expect for a ply lined tranny.
Used to belong to Fisheries dept in the Shetlands
No windows in rear doors.
Front n/s coil spring broken, front o/s indicator assembly hanging out but held in place with tape, drivers mirror glass cracked and back of mirror housing missing. (All these bits ordered off aforementioned mate!)

No oil leaks, doesnt smoke, new springs fitted to rear.

Got a hideous roof rack on top which is coming off and going to be sold.

6 months mot, no tax.

£750

Six stud wheels means you have a 190, heavy duty axle.
Can carry about 1900 kgs, I think.
Seems like a good buy though.
Pictures?
