Hi guys,
I'm looking to buy a van, and I'm still not sure what to get, but a Transit MK7 is on top of the list.
This would be my first van and I've got about €6500(£6000) to spend.
I'm doubting between a Peugeot Boxer or a Transit but I know nothing about the Ford...
It's not for professional use, but I will have a motorcycle in it every now and then and I would like to travel a little with it(low comfort).
The main benefit of the Peugeot would be the bigger loading space, but a Transit with a high or medium roof might be good too.
Although a big loading space is handy, it is not something that I'll need often so I'm still doubting about just getting a compact van or not.
I was just wondering if it would even be possible to load a 250kg motorcycle in a low roof van when I can't stand up?
What I'm hoping to find out here is what I have to look out for when buying a MK7(preferably euro5)...
Are there certain engines that are specifically good or bad, certain typical places where I have to watch out for rust, and so on...
A friend of mine is a Peugeot mechanic, according to him the 2.2 engines in the Peugeot are Ford Puma engines, which often have problems with the heads.
I was wondering if the Transit uses the same engine and if this problem is really that typical or not?
He told me there's plastic around the head that can crack causing the injectors to fail which is obviously very expensive to mend.
I have to admit that he doesn't recommend a Peugeot, but I've been driving my old 406 for about 16 years without real issues so I still am a fan of the brand.
He told me to buy an Opel(Vauxhall) because of his past experience with the brand admitting he doesn't now a thing about Ford's...
So I've come here seeking for information.
Basically anything that could help me get the best possible van(technically and sizewise) would help me out a lot!
Thanks in advance and hopefully I'll get to show you my purchase in the near future...
