The problem is, it isn't a proper automatic transmission
It's an
A.S.M. Auto shifting manual gearbox
(Two little men underneath, one moving the gearstick and another pressing the clutch pedal
When they have an argument, they stop talking to each other and leave you stranded

)
If you're still keen, go for a sprint on the motorway/A road for several miles and see if it all behaves when you next pull up and then when you go to pull away again
The weak spot is air entering the clutch slave cylinder (£300 odd part I believe)But worse than that is the biggest weak spot and that's the Ford dealer that doesn't have a clue about them

So a careful choice of dealer is essential when it needs attention
