Transit V Vivaro

Ok thought i would list the good points and bad points of both vehicles, i previously owned a 54 Reg Vauxhall Vivaro 1.9cdti and i have had the Transit GLX for just over a year now.

Vauxhall Good Points.

fast
Good MPG
smooth on motorway especially in 6th gear
No rust after 4.years
No problems or warranty work done in 4 years
Good on Tyres only two front tyres in 4 years.

Bad Points.
Not as much room in the back on a standard swb version.
window winder fell off
Not as much storage in the cab as Transit
Stereo pretty naff, replaced with after market one.
Nice big 90 l fuel tank


Transit Good Points.
Good rear storage on standard swb model
Good cab storage
Good standard stereo on The GLX

Bad Points
EGR problem
poor MPG
Poor Motorway performance
Noisy on motorway
drivers and passenger doors shake on motorway (at The Top)
no 6 gear
Gear box not as smooth
smaller fuel tank only 75 l
poor idle and tickover after re map all was better!
Knocking suspension after 1 year
possible corrosion!!!

Any comments please add them this is just my humble opinion i suppose there will be loads of happy transit owners somewhere. I suppose my Vivaro could have been just extremly good. And other people may have a different story to tell.

I had a 53 reg Vivaro from new and like you had no problems apart from one small wiring glitch early in its life.
I had mine mapped too which made it even better to drive.

I have had far more problems with the Transit in the first year than I had over 4 years with the Vivaro BUT I still prefer the Transit at the moment.

One other point that I think you should of listed is the much better turning circle in the Transit.

I was also put off of the Vauxhall when a local 'up to then' trusted dealer ripped me off at service / MOT time.
