hi all , im a newby, name is rob, ilkeston derbyshire, my girlfriend and i race motorcycle ( 500 honda) in the televised thundersport series, forgive us but we run a nissan venette 2.0 diesel, to be honest its a grat little van bigger than it looks from the outside, and very economical, and also with a robust lift pump will run on straight veg oil, however with tha bike , the genny, all the tools , leathers and towing a 1000kgs caravan to meetings , its abit underpowered, ,,,,,,,,,chap on our road will be selling a 1996 p plate smiley grille tranny on 65000 miles, at the end of summer, he keeps saying its a 2.0 ltr,,,,, but the racing fourum i belong to say its a 2.5,? he"s never mentioned an engine swap.. and im sure he would do, so if it is a 2.5 , would this van be up the job of towing ull our stuff,,,,,thaks all rob RV RACING,

Alright Rob,

Welcome mate

If its a petrol it will be a 2 Litre, If it's a diesel it's a 2.5.
Post up the reg in a new thread and someone should be kind enough to
let you know it's details including what kind of axle it has.
(some more suited to towing than others)
Am Presuming it's not a turbo
The 2.5 N/A (Normally Aspirated) diesel especially 76 PS is a fine towing vehicle as long as you're in no rush, though it will be noisier than you'll be used to
Personally I wouldn't recomend the 2L petrol for lugging weight and towing, it doesn't have the guts

PS if it's a diesel and you're going to use Veg then you'll need a Bosch injector pump.

thanks alan,,,,its non turbo diesel, he,s just shot out in this morn,,will post reg when he returns,,,was suprised to see how cheap mid 90"s trannys are on ebay,,, qute like the look of those ldv vans , one of our lot runs on e ,,apparently run transit running gear,??????

what year vannete is it
i used to have 1 (well 2 works vans) they were 2.3 and the biggest pile of crap ive ever driven 23mpg at best

mine was the one thats the same shape as the LDV cub - well same van

its a 1992 panel van, 20 ltr deisel, goog cond, needs rear arches and an exhaust id love to keep it but we need a bigger van to get two bikes in,,,,rob

thats real nice of you ,,, but we must be strict whith ourselves, we are planning a new van in oct,,,nov,,dec,,we"v got a full seasons racing in font of us, its gonna cost many thousands £ so no budget for a van yet, but tar anyway,,,,,,
