hello- my first post.
We owned a lovely rusty mk3 transit in the UK last year and I spent the first 2.5 years in the UK living in a mk2 transit on the streets of oxford - so we have a affection for them. We are now back in NZ and looking for a van.
Transits are expensive and rare here- all imports too. I think maybe mk2s were built here though. They dont rust here like in blighty though which is nice!
So we have found this one here....

we looked at it today and will drive it tomorrow. It has bananas on the engine but is turbo- what power would this be ? 85 or 100?
He has a problem with the accelerator- a light comes on the dash and it loses power- but its intermittent. Is it a fly by wire on these? Hes trying to get it sorted or some parts.
Transits have a bad reputation here for being unreliable- they do have tough competition though with the jap vans but i still think its unfair. However- all my cars till now have or are oldschool and I like my diesels to be pure simple mechanical affairs with no electronics- so long as they are getting diesel in one end they'll keep going. With this model we are looking at are there any particular problems that pop up due to it being a turbo with i presume EFI or extra black boxes full wiring?
